I just took one of those super cheap tea-light candles from my wife and held it to the blade (while running) for a few seconds. The difference between the waxed blade and unwaxed was really dramatic. After doing a few cuts (or drill passes) it becomes really obvious that it is to your advantage to stop and apply more wax every few seconds. In the case of the drilling especially, it was really helpful.
