Koger Sun Shade - New Model!

Koger has released a new model sun shade sized specifically to fit Sonex legacy and B-Model airplanes. It is similar to the "Small Universal" that most of us currently use, but the dimensions have been enlarged slightly to better fit the front-to-back length of the Sonex Canopy. The "Sonex Special" sun shade measures 30" x 30", and has the same tapered front edge (Koger calls it the rounded front), and is 5" longer that the universal. This means that when the sun is directly overhead or a little in front of the airplane the shade will fully protect you head and eyes, but is still easy to see around on the sides.

Koger says they'll have 10 of these at AirVenture this year, and with their normal show discount, the price will be $185. If this seems like a lot of money, try flying with it for 3 months or so, then removing it - that price will seem like the best $185 spent yet! They really work great!

We all should extend our thanks to Sonex-builder Dave Misner, who took the lead on working with Koger to make this happen. The small universal is a great shade, but this new one is even better. Thanks Dave!

The attached picture shows the small universal, and you can clearly see where the extra 5" will really help out.
