Exploring Atlanta area airports

Postby Gripdana » Sun Apr 10, 2016 7:25 am

I am heading out this morning to explore. Departing KLZU at about 9am and heading for D73 - KWDR - KGVL - KLZU. If anyone knows of a good restaurant at one of these airports please let me know. I hope to run into some other Sonex builders/flyers today.

Dana, I believe the only restaurant left is at LZU on the southside of the field. For sightseeing, I'd go up to Lake Lanier near Gainsville (GVL). Another scenic airport is Wimpys (9A0) which is up north. From there, I'd hop over the mountains and visit Blairsville (DZJ).

I might be at Monroe later. I'm still unpacking and recovering from the SnF experience!

You should go to Peach State Aerodrome.

GA2

Good food and there are usually some fun planes buzzing around.

Bout 2 or three min from Griffin (6A2) where my plane is based, Drop a line and I'll meet you.

KFFC is where Aircraft Spruce East is located. You can land and the FBO will call Spruce. They will pick you up and take you to the warehouse to buy any parts you need.
