DAR

Postby ededoad » Thu Oct 29, 2015 11:13 am

Just thought I would blow some steam for a minuet. I live at the end of the world, Corpus Christi, TX. I just finished my scratch built Sonex , registered it and paid the taxes on it. The FAA used to do the inspections down here but can't travel due to sequestration. I have tried to contact all DAR's within 180 miles (6) and only got a response from 1 who is working in SC. Anyone know of a DAR in this area? I can't wait to tell my hangar neighbor who has just about finished his RV about this.

End of rant.

Hello to fellow scratch builder!! The fellow I am going to tell you about isnt within 180 miles, but is in N tx. Mel Asberry is well known DAR country wide, and may wish to fly down to assist you. He and his wife, Ann , do a great job with whatever they do, and wont mince words. He does expect things to be in order, so contact him for specifics of what he needs. I use his contact thusly:
n168tx@flytx.net
If you use my name you might get an 'I know him' out of him! :D

You might also contact Bryan Ingraham (713-410-1486). He is the DAR in the Houston area and is a good guy to work with. It may take several calls to contact him and you might have to be patient while awaiting a reply to any voice mail. He travels out of country fairly frequently.

Another thought is that something might be worked out with your FSDO inspector to do it on the side for personal compensation (expenses+). They may not be allowed to do it but it is worth a try.
