Special Airworthiness Certificate issued!

Postby Sonex1517 » Thu Oct 08, 2015 6:50 pm

After 4 1/2 years of building, Sonex 1517 became N1517S today.

I had the DuPage FSDO inspect the airplane, and I have to say it was a pleasure to work with them. It was less than two weeks after I submitted the paperwork to the inspection.

Look for a complete report in the next issue of the Sonex Builders and Pilots Foundation newsletter!

Firśt flight soon.....

Robbie,

Congratulations! I look forward to reading your first flight report.

Take your time on the first flight and don't let anyone or anything rush you.

Most of all, enjoy the experience!

Special Airworthiness Certificate issued!

I appreciate the kind words.

Jake - I fly it when it's ready and the weather permits.

For all the knocks the FAA gets I have to say the DuPage FSDO was very easy and quick. A mistake was in my operating limitations and before i got home from the airport, revised operating limitations had been emailed to me.

Robbie,

Congratulations on successful inspection, but not sure if any home built aircraft is ever 100% done, always something to improve or update.
