The PTT wires are just a simple switch to ground. You take the ptt wire, run it to one side of your ptt switch, and the other side goes to ground. When that wire is grounded (button pressed) it puts the V6 into TX.
By stay alive do you mean the "hot" +12V to the iEfis from the battery? I just put a ring terminal on an in-line fuse holder with a 5A fuse, secured that to the lug on my master contactor (on the "hot" side) and ran a wire from there to the iEfis. (Incidentally, I used this same wire to a 12V socket in the cockpit so I could hook up a battery tender without removing the cowling.)
I'm not familiar with the trig.
