John,
Thanks very much for checking in here, and for letting us know you are well.
I remember meeting you, your dad, and Mark at last year's ASA fly-in. You provided some great tips and some much appreciated good cheer.
Your dad helped so many of us in so many ways. Please accept our heartfelt condolences for the loss that you and the Huebbe family have experienced.

I am very sorry for the loss you and your family have suffered. Like others, I did not know your dad personally, but felt like a friend of the family through the videos and information shared. I for one can truly say he has given me motivation and spirit to keep working on my project through your family's videos. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Thanks for the update.

That's the first time I've ever heard of a crankshaft fracture with a GP engine. Of course, Lycomings and Continentals break them, too. Well, at least it sounds like the NTSB did a thorough analysis of the engine.

I may have missed something, but I believe you mean where there is a sentence about "break in camshaft"? I understood that to be a log book entry they noted, not a fractured/broken camshaft.

The report states the crankshaft fractured in a later paragraph.

Am I misreading this?

The camshaft was fractured between the number one and number two lobes.
