Graeme, Thanks for the pics-they brought back a lot of memories. My carrier, USS Wasp CVS18, was homeported at Quonset Point while it was still Naval Air Station Quonset PT. And before that we were homeported at Charleston Naval Shipyard in North Boston which I could see the location of in one of the pictures.

Loren,

Here is Quonset now. Well KOQU - Quonset in August when I was doing some crash and goes! Civilian field with the RI Guard C-130's stationed in a corner. Electric Boat fabricate parts of submarines and the SeeBee's have a museum. The closed runway is used for police to practice high speed chases. Part of the dock to the north is for car carriers to land and store cars. A previous aviation museum has just closed and the collection has been dispersed after weather damaged the donated hangar beyond repair.
