Xenos Pilot Size Limitations

Xenos Pilot Size Limitations

Postby greybeard » Sun Jul 01, 2018 10:47 pm

Hello,

My name is Mike Van Buskirk from Tucson, AZ. I am a beginning power glider student, taking lessons in Payson, AZ at Russ Hustead's Sky King Soaring. Have become an instant power glider enthusiast, and would eventually like to purchase a Xenos. Not sure if I fit-am 6'4" tall and weigh 210 lbs. Could any of the Xenos builders/flyers provide feedback on this subject? There are (to the best of my knowledge) no Xenos owners in Tucson. Any feedback appreciated. Thank you!

If you are just interested in finding out if you fit in the cockpit then any sonex/waiex/xenos would work. I am pretty sure they all have the same cockpit setup/ dimensions. Take a look at the sonex aircraft website. There is a builder search link there. Looks to be 15 completed sonex/waiex and a whole lot more building in Arizona. Most have an email address attached to their info.

Keith,

Kind thanks for your reply-did not know of the builder network on the Sonex website, and found four builders and one completed Sonex in Tucson. Just sent an email to the guy who is built and flying. Again, thank you for your help-most appreciated

Have 700 hours on my Xenos I am 5' 9" and use two cushions under me when I fly. Have flown with two 6' 3" pilots with no problems. I did contour my canopy slightly for better visibility which adds some room.

Dave Wilcox had Sonex N607LT in a hanger across from Russ’s a couple years ago. Ask Russ to introduce Dave one Saturday. Would be an opportunity check the seating in a legacy Sonex.

I built and am flying Xenos 0068. I'm 6'1" but I use a 4" thick cushion to sit on. I have relatively long legs/short torso. Everyone is different. Legroom is at the limit, short.
