Looking good!

That looks like a great shop area, too...

Yea, i really outgrew my cramped garage. Now i am splitting a 40 x 40 hangar with someone who hopes to begin an RV-8 project sometime soon. He hasn't started yet, so i have tons of space!

KITPLANES magazine editor Marc Cook stopped by my hangar today doing a little story on homebuilding activity in Mojave.. look for a possible blurb about Waiex #142 in an upcoming issue!

Finally finished my canopy. Flip back mod. No cracks so far!
The only holes drilled are on the bows. The sides are glued with RTV to the rails and screwed from the bottom through angle aluminum.

Pics are looking great everyone!

Well, the good news is that I got a little more painting done:

Image

I was doing some full throttle run ups today and was really happy to see a static rpm of 3050, but unfortunately after I did some run ups I found an oil leak coming from the back of my engine.  so, I guess that means I will now be disassembling and removing my engine and hope the rear crankshaft seal is bad, and pray that it's not leaking from the camshaft seal or from the case halves. Too bad...I was hoping for a first flight in the next week or so...

You have no idea how right you are Kip :D I had to remove my engine today but think I know where its leaking from, so hopefully I can have back together this weekend sometime. I still need a few more tailwheel hours but hope to fix that in the next few days. Thanks for the paint compliment...I still need to paint my wingtips blue and leading edge of wings silver but I like the way it turned out.

How's your plane flying? Do you have all the S1-C ribs done yet?

Mike, I have 15 of 36 ribs done. I have only been home two days on March, though.

April should be good for catching up.

Got a good Waiex flight in today to get her prepped for Sun n Fun. I'll be in "Homebuilt Camping"...

Your Flip back canopy mod came out really nice. I plan on doing the same. Do you have your latches worked out yet for the canopy, and if so, any photos? Paint job looks great!
