Tried my first Loops in my Waiex this morning. Fun!

https://youtu.be/2W30aHhk_ss

Entered the loops at 130KTS and climb power (35MAP on the Turbo), held <2g's through the loop. Airspeed at the top was ~45kts, speed at the bottom (throttle cut crossing horizon) was topping out around 90-105.

One thing I did notice is as I pull more g's my seat pan starts to rub on the pitch pushrod, which actually means forward pressure (versus just releasing backpressure) is needed to reduce g-load. A new seat pan is probably in my future, though I don't have much headroom to spare with my beefy old headset.

Do you have the lowered seat?

Yes, lowered seat is standard in a (legacy) Waiex.

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for all your great videos and posts - very inspiring for me to keep working on my build! Also, thank you for giving up one of your Saturday mornings this summer to let me admire your creation and pepper you with questions. You and so many people on this forum are great about unselfishly sharing their knowledge and experience with the newbies!

Best,
Paul

Couple of high speed passes with family in town for the holidays.

I noticed that my plane appears to have some kind of whistling sound I haven't heard before in other similar videos I've watched. Maybe I'll call it a feature/signature?

Awesome. Hope to see if mine whistles one of these days. Plus I need to clean off the dust.

More like a Corsair than a Mustang. The Mustang has a mechanical "whine" from the supercharger, the Corsair is aerodynamic. A Piper Comanche also whistles while it works.

I think what Ryan's plane is suffering from is a loose rivet mandrel. Try putting a piece of tape over one rivet at a time, till you find the culprit.
