Well, the time has come to sell the Waiex. I’ve upgraded to a more family friendly Cessna and I just don’t have the room to store my Waiex, unfortunately. I love flying it, fly it often, and am strongly considering a Onex project as a replacement simply because it would fit in the hangar with the Cessna, plus it would give me a build project with my sons. With that in mind I would consider an unbuilt Onex project as a partial trade.

As for the Waiex, I am the original builder and after around 1400 hours to build, I first flew this airplane April 2012 with an AeroVee. In 2020 I pulled the AeroVee and installed an overhauled Jabiru 3300, serial #1706, and new Prince P-tip prop. Last summer I went over the airframe and applied a PPG single stage polyurethane paint job to protect the metal from corrosion. I was planning on adding vinyl stripes but have yet to do that.

I just completed an annual condition inspection this July and installed all new tires, tubes, and brake pads. All cylinder compressions are nearly perfect (upper 70’s).

I don’t consider this a trophy winning show plane, but I’m proud of it and I spare no expense on safety and reliability. I’m a corporate pilot and after flying Gulfstream’s and Challengers, the Waiex is my therapy! This airplane has been wonderful and I’ll miss it, and I hope it can be enjoyed by someone else as much as I have!
