Re: Sonex High Wing!

looking at the new pix, there's a wing seam just outboard of the fuselage about where the onex joint is. I bet that's where the panels come off. Now will Sonex do the right thing and make it simple and toolless to detach them? Or will it take 2 men and a boy to pull them? I'm thinking a single lever...

Re: Sonex High Wing!

Even though Sonex has stated they are not trying to make this a STOL backcountry flyer, you know meatheads like me will make so. 29 inch Alaska Bushwheels baby!

Re: Sonex High Wing!

I think its going to be a hit. I'd like to know more about the removable wing tips to get it down to 89 inches of width. With a dolly like one man riggers sailplanes have, it could be a huge selling point for hangar space, like the Onex. Or maybe do drop folding tips.

Re: Instrument Panel Switch Labeling

Rynoth wrote:I also used an inexpensive label maker (white letters on black tape). I have not yet had any issues with peeling.

The lovely thing about using a label maker is when you misspelled something and notice it 6 months later, you can just reprint it.

Backcountry Sonex?

With Vans moving into the backcountry with the RV15, anyone interested in suggesting Sonex come out with something? Prettier than a Zenith, cheaper than an RV15? Or does Zenith really have the market locked up?

Re: New guy with build questions

Panel dreaming is fun when you are building. Even more fun when you go window shopping at KOSH. A few years ago I was an RCH from buying that fancy HUD from Grand Rapids and repaneling my ship! It was too cool! What do they say about a fool and his money? But too often impulse buys get you too much ...

Re: New builder in Western Mass

As for the turbo, let me just say you should find 3 people with successful recent installations and talk to them before you consider it. I have read that they turbos rust and stop working if they are not fogged after use. The kit that I am purchasing includes the Aerovee Turbo engine so I will work...

Re: New guy with build questions

My two cents and worth every penny.... EMS is nice. let the computer monitor the engine and let you know when things go pear shaped. I have the MGL xTreme EMS and it works fine. Just like the others. Primary flight instruments, go with basics whether its steam or electronic. Nothing like looking at ...

Re: Jabiru 3300 alternator Kubota part number?

In the spirit of sharing so others learn….. I had never installed a fuse or circuit protection for my alternator on the 3300. When I made my first flight with the new voltage regulator after my engine was reinstalled, my RPM worked briefly, then dropped off and stayed at zero. I had the RPM pickup ...
