Nuvite Polish Grade S (Final Polish)

Greetings Everyone, I know there's a few posts on the Nuvite polishing system, but I wanted to ask if anyone has any experience with the final polishing step, the S grade. I've started polishing my project and find the actual polishing to be pretty easy, but after around 4 coats of F9 and 3 coats of...

Re: Tri vs tail

Well, the good news is I think you're going to have a great plane regardless of which way you build it. I know this one will be a tough decision but if I were to guess you probably have some time to decide and make the call if you're going to switch back to tri gear. I thought about this decision fo...

Re: Tri vs tail

Just remember that the taildragger is always faster! :D You are right though..they nailed the looks on both versions. I doubt you're going to go wrong either way in the end. I should know this but are you working on the fuselage yet? Maybe you can think about it for a while then if you decide to swi...

Re: My first polish test

Andy, I wanted to post a quick note to see how the polishing process is going. Are you still polishing pieces of the project? If so, I was wondering if you have any more hints to give. I've started polishing my tail sections with a HF rotary buffer, wool pads, and Nuvite F9 polish and thus far I've ...

Re: Homebuilt Aircraft AD Compliance

On our first homebuilt we went through the local FSDO and had an FAA inspector do the inspection. It turned out to be mostly a paperwork check as he only looked at the plane for about 5 minutes. I'm planning on the same thing with the Waiex. Kip... I've been in contact with them previously but didn'...

Homebuilt Aircraft AD Compliance

Greetings All, I'm hoping to call the FSDO in the next few days to schedule my inspection and as I complete the paperwork I've come up with a question. FAA form 8130-6 has a block where you're supposed to state the most recent AD compliance number you've checked to ensure all AD's have been checked....

Re: Other than Sonex Pics.

Great pics Kip! Have you started planning the route you'll take when you fly the Waiex down there? ;)

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

No Andy you got it. The plan is to put a third notch between the two existing ones. Basically, you're adding a 20 degree notch to the already existing 10 & 30 degree notches.

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

As far as I'm aware, the three position flap bracket is something you basically do on your own. I'm still debating on doing this, but I think that when I decide to I'll probably use a Dremel cutoff wheel and lots of filing to make it look square. My bracket is a Sonex stock item I ordered and I thin...

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

I was finally able to get N569KM weighed this morning. Left: 298 lbs Right: 306 lbs Tail: 40 lbs Total: 644 lbs I was hoping for less than 650, so even when I paint the 30% I'm planning on, I should still be at my goal. Yesterday was about 200' and 1/4 mile visibility, so I thought a quick picture w...
