Re: new AeroVee seems tight

OK, so I'm starting to investigate the tight engine issue. I've seen a post where someone recommends leaving the accessory plate behind when removing the engine. Sounds like a good idea, any opinions one way or the other? That's what I have done the three or four times I've taken it off for this is...

Re: Sonex Canopy

After this happened to me I am very cautious with my canopy, fearful actually. When it is closed it is ok, however when it is open I feel it is pretty frail. This was the new material, on a 90 degree day. It was mostly shut with the latch hooks resting on the longeron and I accidentally leaned agai...

Re: Unable to turn off primary magnetrons

My mags are wired: ground -to- switch -to- mags -to- ground. Nothing else.

Re: NavWorx ADS600-EXP

I ordered the NavWorx ADS600-EXP on Apr 6 2015 and I am still waiting for delivery! Has anyone else ordered this product and have you received it? No, but I took a very close look at it at OSH this year and was very impressed with the features and the low cost. Unless somebody comes up with a bette...

Re: Stuck Throttle - Aerovee Aero Injector

Yes, my throttle stuck in the wo position and I hit a snow bank before I could stop. It cost me a prop. The cable was smaller than the replacement and it would buckle between the throttle arm and the cable sheath without pushing the cable at all. The heaver cable solved the problem. I am also using...

Re: Sonex Canopy

I guess I will be the first to agree with the original post. I think the canopy frame is one of the weaker parts of the sonex airframe design. Yes, it does what it has to but in my opinion it is very flimsy, can't be opened up in a brisk wind without risking breaking the canopy, and is not in the l...

Re: new AeroVee seems tight

I would also triple check your end play now that everything is assembled. You wouldn't be the first person to end up with the end play too tight following the assembly manual steps. Keith #554 That was going to be my suggestion as well. You can get a rough check by just pushing and pulling the prob...

Re: Metal shavings on rocker cover gasket

I'm almost positive the metal is from inside the engine. It would be wishful thinking on my part to think otherwise :-), especially after 3 consecutive disappointing oil analysis reports that seem to be getting worse. My last analysis only had 9 hours on the oil and had more iron than the previous ...

Re: oil

I'm using the Valvoline VR1 20w-50 non synthetic called for in the Aerovee manual. Not too expensive by the case on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Valvoline-822347-20W-50-Racing-Motor/dp/B00DJ4FIPQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446659307&sr=8-1&keywords=Valvoline+VR1+20w-50 About $6 a quart. S...

That's the same first customer-built SubSonex featured on the Sonex web page. Bummer. I hope it's repairable. Glad everyone is safe.
