Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

Looks great, Mike! You might consider making a new flap handle to allow 3 flap positions. The "full flap" setting is difficult to set in flight becasue of the drag and that's pretty much all it is...lot's of drag with very little reduction in stall speed. Your mileage may vary...:) That's...

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

Hello Everyone, Today seemed like another milestone sort of day in the build of Waiex #0056, so I wanted to post a few quick pictures... First off, I found some nice covers for the flap and brake handles: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v687/MikePGT/253c760e.jpg As I'm hoping to weigh the plane th...

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

I thought someone had estimated around 40-50 or so total, but I'm not sure if that's still accurate or not. I would also be interested in knowing...

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

Hey that looks great! Keep up the great work! It looks like you're about ready to fit the wings so you can finish the spar tube assembly...or have you already?

Keep the pictures coming!!

Re: Videos...Post them here...!

Amazing Kip...you really created a masterpiece! My hope has always been to park my Waiex next to yours at Oshkosh but after seeing your plane I would probably embarrass myself if I did. :? Is that a Dragonfly in your hangar? Looks like fun 8-) One more quick question...how did you make up your tail ...

Re: AeroVee conversations

This is an interesting thread and I have also been watching the posts on the Aerovee forum on the Sonex website. At this point my decision has already been made, but when I bought my Waiex kit I wanted one with an Aerovee mount for a few specific reasons: First and foremost, I really wanted an engin...

Re: Waiex Tail Service Bulletin.. WTF!

Thanks, Mike. I have not yet read the plans fully. I might knock this thing out this week. At least the front part...:) Just my opinion, but if you get access to the bottom of the AN-4 bolts that go through the longerons the front blocks are pretty quick and easy. I'm sure you'll get that part done...

Re: Waiex Tail Service Bulletin.. WTF!

Hey Kip, I can't be certain but I think the two additional NAS bolts are part of the service bulletin and were not part of any original plans. The plans instruct you to use the new doubler as a template for those holes. I ended up putting the rest of the bolts through the doubler then drilled the ne...

Re: Test wing assembly

Looks great Robbie! Get that aft spar done and get that thing riveted together so you can start squaring the wing frame and start skinning the wings! :)

Keep up the good work!
