Re: Jabiru oil leak resolved

There are actually two seals on the cover. The cover itself has an o-ring. The pump plate that the gears orbit in is a metal to metal seal against the case. This is the one that was leaking. If you don't get right amount of goo or the surfaces are not prepped properly or for pete's sake you use the ...

Re: Blocked breather tube causing oil leak at prop hub

I have a friend who put an oil breather suction device on his RV7 with an O390. It was welded to the exhaust and created a suction on the case to pull the vapor. Supposably it increases performance by lowering case pressure and dumps the vapor into the exhaust to be burned off. His worked swimmingly...

Jabiru oil leak resolved

For years, I've chased a small oil leak on my Jabiru3300. The symptom was a misting oil somewhere near the prop hub and would mess up the cowl and all things past it. Not much, just a mess. I suspected the oil pump cover and removed, cleaned and resealed with the indicated goo. Still no joy. After t...

Re: Straightening bent gear legs

In my off field landing, I bent my Tracy Obrien steel legs slightly. He told me they could be rebent using a hydraulic press without an issue. I used the excuse to buy the 20 Ton press from Harbor Freight. Cut a vee holder out of a 4X4 chunk of scrap lumber. Did it in small increments. I assume you ...

Re: #5 & #6 not firing on 3300 Jab with new Aeroinjetor

Sounds like you are too lean at idle. When you go full throttle, the needle pulls out enough to give it sufficient fuel for the back two. Back out the needle in ¼ turn increments until you get them to fire with your mixture full rich. Once that is achieved, then you can fine tune. Also, the aerocarb...

Re: How can I tell if a specific Serial # has lifter problem

From the Jabiru Overhaul manual. 2.13.14 Solid lifters • 2200 and 3300 engines earlier than serial number [22A-2068] or [33A-961] utilise solid lifters driven by a 330° camshaft. 2.13.15 Hydraulic lifters • 2200 and 3300 engines from serial number [22A-2068] or [33A-961] use hydraulic lifters. 2.13....

Re: Auto pilot with MGL Extreme

I have that configuration. You can adjust the sevovs inside the xtreme menus under autopilot setup. However, I found the default settings to be fine.

Re: New owner of Sonex 804

Don't forget about the operating limitations that were issued at the time of inspection. I have a copy of mine in the plane with the airworthiness certificate. My DAR did not keep a copy of the operating limitations or W/B to send to the FSDO that I'm aware of so I don't know if they have copy. If ...

Re: insurance catch

So let me get this straight.... I'll be paying artificially high premiums to insure my airplane because they are too stupid to build above sea-level in New Orleans? Insurance is a great example of voluntary socialism. Those who pay premiums, expect to be paid if an insured event is experienced. The...
