Re: CO levels

You might try putting a gasket on the egt sensor to seal it. I have a jab 3300 with two piece exhaust on each side. I placed fiberglass exhaust wrap on and over the attachment points of the two pieces that helps to keep exhaust moving through, instead of pushing outside of the pipes. You might as a...

Re: Flyboys tailwheel

I'm finishing up my onex and due to having differential brakes I am gonna have to change the tailwheel. Does any one know which one will fit the onex. Why do you HAVE to change the tail wheel? Differential brakes still work fine for added control in cross wind landings with stock tail wheel. Perhap...

CO levels

I've never had a CO monitor in my plane, but during my B conversion I installed a hand held unit. So I don't know if this was always an issue. I get very high CO levels while taxiing, run up, climb, but it goes down during cruise. The peak was 65 PPM at runup. taxi it goes down to 45 PPM. climb I'm ...

Re: COVID lockdown

Ouch, another factor. Talking to my trusty CFI, he said he wouldn't do a flight review until there's a vaccine. My flight review is due in June. Unless I can find a CFI who's willing to sit next to me, I might be grounded. I have a list, but most are over 65 and high risk. Also, I got to thinking, i...

Re: tailBeaconX

Check out the Trig22 ADS-b bundle too, about the same price. Mode S ponder and ADS-b GPS receiver. Just works and is super simple to configure. The remote head is nice so you can put all the guts somewhere out of the way.

Re: COVID lockdown

Is it really “travel” if you end up in the same place you started, and never made any stops? In this time of need, all of us need to show each other that the sacrifices are shared. Finding ways to justify our behavior to satisfy an itch. In the immortal words of the wisest Vulcan, "The needs o...

Re: COVID lockdown

Can one still ride a snowmobile in Colorado? If so, I’d think you could fly an airplane (while maintaining social distance of course.) The Governor's order specifically states that all travel except for the purpose of traveling by car or public transportation to an essential business is prohibited....

COVID lockdown

My state, Colorado, has issued a lockdown of all citizens to a very small list of activities (food, med, critical work). Recreational aviation, although essential to my mental health, was not one of them. My glider club has shutdown, even though I live at an airpark, I really don't feel like taking ...
