Re: Any ideas on Ways to jump start engine with cowl on?

My plane is very sensitive about its starting procedure. On a cold engine, first start of the day, you got maybe 20-30 seconds worth of cranking before the battery is too weak to turn the engine over fast enough to ever start. ( Jabiru 3300 ) I probably should have a larger battery in it, it curren...

Re: Best place to put remote mounted avioncs

I'm just starting to roughly plan my panel and avionics setup. I'm pretty sure I'm going to wind up with a few remote mounted items (radio, transponder, maybe one or two other things). If I can mount them anywhere, is any place better than anywhere else for CG or other concerns? I think I'm going t...

Re: rough running 3300

Along the lines of wire replacement, is there an off the shelf sparkplug wire replacement? Or is it a custom job? Or get it through jab USA and take out a loan? Mark Its automotive grade, so theoretically, you could just go get a spool of wire and some ends roll your own. Youtube should give you th...

Re: Battery powered rivet gun

DeWalt guy myself. My trusty 20v drill has built my Waiex twice over. I bought an air drill prior to build, used it a couple of times. So much easier to just chuck the bit in the Dewalt. Had I found a cordless rivet puller early on, I'd be all over that. On my third Harbor Fright one now. They work ...

Re: Jabiru 3300 with MGL CHT Probes

I've put mine under the headbolt over the exhaust port. You may need to slightly bend the fin to slide it in.

Re: bing carb ?

I've seen the same. On take off and climb, my #6 can go very high on EGT, but in cruise everything levels out. The Rotec carb I tried really helped this, but I wouldn't recommend it based on a bad experience. I really think its about atomization of the fuel. The Aerocarb is pretty crude and just dum...

Re: Flap Pushrod Assembly

My B-model conversion kit did not include the pushrod assembly. I had to source them.

Re: Ideas for pre heating engine and oil

My old KATS pad heater power cable broke off so I had to replace it. Ordered a replacement off amazon and it was going to take 6 weeks to deliver. So found this, came in two days. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077J5DSFJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 $32. If you have a Jab...

Re: cowl air exit hole size advise seeked

Initial flight testing with the B-model side exits are very good in regard to cooling. And they are big enough you could put a trouble light through them if you can find an incandescent bulb. I always thought the A-model bottom exits were undersized.

Re: EAA vs SOS airventure beer tent

It seems to me that the EAA is trying to push the SOS brothers out. They now allow beer on site after 5pm at selected vendor stands and probably would like to focus those who imbibe to stay on site. Sorry, part of the fun of going to Oshkosh and navigating the chaos of the arrival is the march from ...
