Re: entry speeds / how to do.... basic aerobatics Waiex?

Nice video Michael, and thanks for the contribution to the thread. How do you figure out when you are at 40kts? I should have stated this differently, I kick full rudder when I see my airspeed indicator approach the 40kt mark. Not sure what airspeed I am actually doing at that point and whether the...

Re: entry speeds / how to do.... basic aerobatics Waiex?

Thanks Tnhelm, good description. Makes sense. In the Pitts I was taught to wiggle the ailerons a little on the up line, and when they went unresponsive that was a sign the airspeed was low enough to kick over. I'm wondering if this technique would also work in the Waiex. You need that goldilocks ai...

Re: Alternator Replace

Just had my second alternator failure in less than 50 hrs. The first failure was caused by an oil leak that got into the stator. That was a legitimate failure. However; the second was just an outright failure. Sonex stators are very pricey. My guess is this is a generic part as most of the sonex pa...

Re: The big AeroCarb/AeroInjector thread

Does anyone know what the size/thread of the idle screw on the AeroInjector is?
I seem to have stripped mine and I can't find anything like it in my arsenal.

Re: Great Plains Engine

Give Scott Casler at Hummel engines a call. You can buy his heads, machined for dual ignition, or purchase a head from your favourite brand, send it to him and have that machined. My recommendation would be to purchase a set of 2 directly from him so you have the same on both sides. Depending on whi...

Re: Aeroovee to Rotax mount conversion???

It would be good if someone like Joe could chime on this topic. My opinion about attempting to fly without a cowling? Really, really, really bad idea! Seriously! I urge you to rethink this or at least have a chat with the people at Sonex before you go ahead with this. As many have stated, the shape ...

Re: On a quest for the elusive "Dry AeroVee"

Oh man, what a mess. I've read about this happening several times on this forum and probably the yahoo groups before. Hopefully after your example people will either stop doing it or find a better way. Maybe someone with hundreds of hours of reliability that's different from this historically and p...

Re: Swivel-Foot Valve Adjusters

Why is the clearance higher on the turbo? Is the expectation that there is more expansion because of the extra heat generated by the turbo or is this done to achieve longer valve closure times without having to use a different camshaft?
