Re: Sonex Aircraft Homecoming and Open House Fly-In Oshkosh,

I hope to make it this year as well. I get out of a two week training class on Friday in Ohio and fly back to Atlanta via airline. Then, I need to make it to OSH by Sunday. I may need a bit of luck but it's doable....! I hope you make it Kip! I wish I could be there but unfortunately I'll be stuck ...

New Sonex Service Bulletin out

I'm sure you've all seen this, but two days ago Sonex issued a new fleet wide mandatory service bulletin to replace gear leg bolts:

It looks like some people have had cracked bolts recently and AN cadmium plated bolts are the answer.

Paint Products?

Greetings, It sounds like a lot of people on this board have either painted their aircraft or are nearing the point where they can start thinking about it, so I would like to start a post to ask those with paint jobs to talk a little about what they used. A few common questions would be: What brand/...

Re: Waiex #0056 Panel

Great point Kip...I'll have to check that. I'll go ahead and admit my ignorance and tell you that I don't even remember where the plans call for the air vents! I'm hoping my location will be okay (pretty high). Thanks again sir...your advice is golden! Please keep sending any suggestions you may hav...

Re: Waiex #0056 Panel

Hi Kip,

Actually, I had that in mind. The only radio I have is a FL-760 and I mounted that high up on the panel. If I add a transponder it may be an issue, but otherwise I think (hope) I should be good.

Great thought though!

Waiex #0056 Panel

I'm currently in the middle of assembling my instrument panel and have thorough several versions before I finally "got it right" (imho). My thought process is to keep things simple, light and cheap as well as stick as close to the model Sonex wiring diagram as possible as found on the plan...

Re: Kevin in NY - Waiex #0169

Hello Kevin, Welcome and congrats on the purchase of your Waiex kit! Just wondering, what is your kit number? I was recently asked how many Waiex kits have been sold. Anyway, you're really going to like building your plane. Keep us up to date on the progress. Fly safe and best of luck in finishing y...

Re: Any recent progress?

I have no doubt that the Onex and Aerovee combo will be a huge money maker for Sonex aircraft. It only makes business sense to focus on that for now.

Hopefully some day they can continue to work on the Subsonex, since that will be my next project!!

Re: Aerovee #0361

I sure will Mike. I also want to add that, despite any comments that I've posted that could be taken as negative (which was not my intention), I still have nothing but respect for the Sonex company and can't wait to have my plane up and flying. That being said, I also want to be honest with all othe...

Re: Aerovee #0361

Hi Mike, When I discovered the issue I sent an in depth email to the Sonex technical support email address, and here is the response I received: Clearances in the case are very tight so you most likely have a contact somewhere other than the camshaft. Identify the location of the contact and then yo...
