Re: location og Red Cube

AeroVee with AeroInjector I have a fine-mesh fuel filter on the engine-side of the firewall. Originally it was directly at the firewall, with the Cube then attached to the outlet side of the filter. The readings were COMPLETELY inaccurate. Not even close, and fluctuating wildly even in level cruise ...

Re: How high have you taken your Sonex?

During my flight testing I got up to 10,000' msl with my AeroVee and AeroInjector. I could have kept going but that was my target, and the puffy clouds were so much fun to fly around!

Re: First flight surprises & tips

I never raise the tail on takeoff in a 3300 powered Sonex. I just fly it off three-point. That will give you the shortest ground roll. In fact, I only slightly raise the tail on an AeroVee powered Sonex. I find that most pilots raise the tail too high when making takeoffs in tailwheel airplanes (no...

Re: The big AeroCarb/AeroInjector thread

1. The AeroInjector will not work properly with pressurized or ram air. As air pressure builds up the AeroInjector leans out erratically. Is the intake on the bottom of your cowling pressurizing the air to the AeroInjector? I would also assume that a major issue would be carb heat, which I would al...

Re: Bit by the bad plug theads in both heads

I'm actually really surprised the install manual specifies 12ft-lbf. All automotive spark plugs I've ever used specified "finger tight and then 1/2 turn" or something similar on first install when the crush washer compresses, and "finger tight and 1/8 turn" or something on reins...

Re: Fuel level

Hi all, First of all are people using actual fuel line, or hardware store tubing. .? Fuel tubing. Anything else is suicide. After 3-1/2 years my plastic fuel tubing is still as supple as it was on day 1. I did some tests with it, and some tests with hardware store bought tubing, left in a jar of 10...

Re: Fuel level

The sight tube as shown in the Sonex plans is not much use. I extended mine further down than shown in the plans but it is not easy to read quickly and unless it shows quantity for the whole tank I think it's a waste of time. To each their own. I've never had any issues reading the fuel level (clos...
