Re: 2017 Sonex Mile-High Fly-In

MAY 20th, 2017! We stood up a Colorado Sonex website to host this event. We'd like to turn it into a regional portal for all things Sonex. Builders, flyers or anyone interested in all things Sonex are invited. Colorado Springs has lots of tourist activities. We can help arrange stuff if you need. Ca...

Re: Stall/spin accidents in our community

A LRI or AOA gauge will not by itself save you from spinning into the ground. All it will tell you is when the wing won't continue to fly. If you pay attention to it, it might allow you to walk away. If you don't have one, or choose to ignore it, who knows.

Re: Stall/spin accidents in our community

I've had two engine outs. I have an analog LRI (lift reserve indicator) gauge (AOA) that is mechanically/steam driven. It sits right in front of me. I think its saved my life and my plane. In both situations, I used that gauge to get me back on the ground. However, it takes discipline to fly to it. ...

Re: Another Sonex Mishap

Hi all, If you blow up the picture looks like a big chunk of plexi is laying on ground next to plane. Yes, interesting if he got out by himself or needed help. I bought a big aluminum chizel thing from fly boy accessories to keep in baggage in case of remote and no help avbl. WaiexN143NM Michael I ...

Re: SonexFlight Episode 15 Availible

Yeah, we were referring to an inverted spin where you enter upside down, like falling out the top of a loop. Not an inverted flat spin.

Re: Sonex N91922 NTSB factual report

This is looking like a typical high DA accident. At KFLY we seem to have a lot of them, usually from transients who refuel while doing a cross country. They are near gross, take on full fuel and have trouble getting out of ground effect and don't recognize the dramatic performance decrease in time. ...

Re: Rotec tbi

The internals of the regulator looked like new. Like I said, when I reassembled, it worked fine. There is nothing in the manual indicating a prohibition on using auto fuel.

Re: Rotec tbi

I've run both auto and 100LL through the TBI. had a full tank of 100LL when my regulator stopped the fuel flow. I took it apart and found no anomaly. Reassembled and it worked fine. I assume something got just a bit of out adjustment and reassembly realigned it. The regulator is a very clever design...
