Re: Supersonic Waiex

Was watching this video on Boom Technology's development of a supersonic passenger aircraft. Look at the hangar mate of the mockup of their tech demo aircraft: https://youtu.be/c-HbJn3LAHc Paul Onex 0076 Yeah, that's Nick Sheryka's Waiex. He's an engineer with Boom. Bums hangar space from them at K...

Re: Temperature Balancing by Turning/Twisting the Carb

I think its more of an issue on the Jabiru. The intake is very close to the back two cylinders. So there isn't much run to atomize. A small change in the orientation on mine can make big changes on how lean #6 and #5 in comparison. The forward four don't seem to care. #6 is always my leanest on clim...

Re: 2017 Sonex Mile-High Fly-In

Hi Jeff, Do you have a report on the Mile High Fly-in? I'm guessing the turnout wasn't too good because of the weather. I really wanted to make it from eastern Iowa but the whole of IA and NE was socked in, as you probably already knew. I am going to plan to make it every year until I get there. I ...

Re: Vibration on Landing

I have around 24 hours and it started a few landings ago, I will check the bolts tonight. It seems to happen after I have all three wheels on the ground almost immediately. Thanks for your help Check your wheel bearing races. Chances are you didn't get them seated properly and they have moved. My g...

Re: Instrument Pael

Sorry, question was not meant to be loaded, all I want to know is the replacement of the instrument panel easy or do I have to start drilling out rivets? If built to plans, you will need to drill out rivets. But plenty (most) of builders have deviated from the plans to "improve" the panel...

Re: Cruise Speed Difference at 8000 ft, why?

I don't think my Jab 3300 waiex could exceed 135mph at sea level, unless measured at Death Valley. Then, maybe. I'll avoid doing full throttle low approaches in Death Valley.

Re: Cruise Speed Difference at 8000 ft, why?

My jab will TAS at 8500ft full throttle at around 170-180MPH turning 3100 RPM, Prince P-tip. Pulled back to 2800RPM, its 150 TAS burning around 6 GPH. I'm fully dressed with wheel pants and intersection fairings.

Re: Navworx ADSB back in business

Hi all, I dont see this company surviving. Lack of honesty, transparency, and communication. They have nobody to blame but themselves. He sabotaged his own self. Who would buy anything from this company after all the fiasco? The new press release on his website doesnt even address the -exp boxes. W...

Re: Navworx ADSB back in business

Scuttlebutt is Navworx used consumer grade GPS chips in both their STC'd and experimental products. Those will not meet 2020 requirements no matter how many software updates they do. If they can survive the customer relations disaster they brought upon themselves, all their existing customers will f...

Re: Filling and Bleeding Hydraulic Brakes

Here's the way I bleed my Hegar brakes. I have an old school hand oil pump can, the kind you fill with oil and squirt it on stuff by squeezing the trigger. I fill that with fluid and put a rubber hose on the tip to connect to the nipple on the bottom bleed valve on the wheel. On the hagar end (top s...
