Carl's family made it great, Jeff's landing made it worth it!

Re: ADSB Options in 2017

I have no faith my SkyGuardTWX will last till 2020 or be compliant at that time. im going to wait until late 2019 before going with any other solution.

Re: ADSB Options in 2017

I have a SkyGuardTWX, it’s buggy. I’ve helped install two echos and they just work. I’d go echo if I did it again. And if my SkyGuardTWX goes Tango uniform, I will.

Re: How high have you taken your Sonex?

15,000ft as I flew over the top of Pikes Peak, 14,110ft. Only 890ft AGL.

But it took some ridge wave work to get it.
The jabiru pretty much didn't want to give me anymore.
Gary Motely did a lot of high altitude work in his Aerovee powered sonex.

Re: NOT Securing Gear Leg Fairings

The best method I've found is to make some fiberglass cuffs via the Jeff Schultz method. These are molded to mate the fairing to the fuselage and hold the fairing very nice to the pants too. Check his website for details. The fairings just float inside the cuffs.

Re: Is This Repairable?

I agree about the replacement. However, after building for 3 years and essentially just having to rivet the fiberglass on and go fly, the last thing I want to do is wait for shipping, then fit a new canopy. I'm just looking for a temporary fix until I get the motivation to trim a new canopy. I'm no...

Re: Is This Repairable?

I would just replace it. You've spent enough time, blood and coin to have a near perfect ship. In the grand scheme, a new canopy isn't that expensive. Just my two cents and worth every penny.

Re: Aerocarb Alternatives

What was the bad experience you had with the rotec? Even with a properly tuned aerocarb you atill.have the issue of it going rich as you pull g's as well as it leaking fuel right above the exhaust if you don't get an immediate start. Keith #554 Off field landing due to sticky regulator, extremely p...

Re: How many rivets in a Waiex?

I lost count at 9000, but that doesn't include the 5000 I seem to have drilled out.

Reklaw 2017

The flyin dates are set, Oct 27th-29th. Last year was my first and it won't be my last. Kinda like Sturgis for aviators. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100012620354093 https://www.facebook.com/newsocracy/videos/1437914666236757/ If you watch the video from last year off the faceplace page, ...
