Re: Corvair Costs

The corvair mount for the sonex from SPA is $1200 but that wasn't the point. I was just using the mount as an example. Years ago the sonex mount was $1000 and the engine was $5995. The point is that all engine costs have gone up. There are no longer people doing corvair fwf for $6000 cjust like the...

Re: Corvair Costs

Have you priced the parts to put together an aerovee fwf package lately? It isn't exactly a cheap motor anymore either. I was shocked to see that just the aerovee mount is now almost $2000. I'm not going with the corvair because I think it will be a cheap solution. I'm going with it because I think...

Re: Corvair Costs

I was going down the WW Corvair path to power a Pietenpol. Got at workable core w/heads for $200. Bought the manual at OSH. A few more parts online like a cooler and back plate. I then realized I was going to be into this about $10K by the time I had the engine I wanted with all the new parts from S...

Re: Fuel Starvation in Flight

My vent line is an Autozone brake line with the ⅛ NPT fitting on one end, inserted into the tank on the top fitting with a 90 degree bend. I route it through the fuel tray on to the PX side, bent around the shape of the outer hull down to the bottom of the firewall at the gear exit. Its then bent 90...

Re: Fuel Starvation in Flight

Just my two cents and worth every penny, but seems like a vent issue. On my aircraft, I have the fuel vent taking ram air like the pitot. IE, bent into the airstream.

Re: Change to Prince Prop

Those trying to figure out which prop to go with, do yourself a favor and listen to our podcast with Lonny Prince. I'm a Prince man, but I do respect the Sensonich product too. But after listening to the podcast, if you don't come away with a warm feeling that Prince props has the right customer att...

Re: Geiger Engine, Aviation Grade Rotary Wankel!

I've always been fascinated by rotary engines. I hope this doesn't stall out like the D-Motor did.

Re: "Good Jabiru"

First time poster...I have been looking at several Jabiru equipped Sonex for sale on Barnstormers. I'm fairly new to the Sonex world but understand the Jabiru came with either solid or hydraulic lifters.. is one of these preferred over the other ? On another topic... any idea about what serial numb...

Re: New guy, looking for a Sonex, Waiex TW

I know of a really sweet Waiex with late Jabiru solid lifter (like mine) that is available. PM me if you are interested. No, its not my plane, but probably one of the nicest Waiexes I've seen.
