Re: B-Model conversion

Received the kit today. No damage! Did a cursory inventory. Cowl looks great. Big improvement from the old one. Glare shield pre-bent (correctly) Lots of machined fiddly bits. All match laser holed. Panel is HUGE! Compared to the A-- Aileron push rods are now aluminum tubes instead of welded steel. ...

Re: Anyone ever equip a Sonex for light IFR?

I think autopilot coupled to a gps would be mandatory. I inadvertently flew into IMC conditions on approach to OSH this year. Scared the be BeJesus out of me. Mistakenly thought I could climb out of it. A few minutes in, I decided to do what my instructors told me, turn 180 and head back out. Had I ...

Re: Engine keeps quiting

Sounds like a lean situation. Do you know what your EGTs are? Try setting your needle ¼ turn rich (out). You may need to lean with your mixture control after startup. I have mine set pretty rich and have to pull the mixture about half way after startup. Then adjust as needed. I rarely go full mixtur...

K.I.S.S.
Simple mag switches, simple push button starter. Just like the Pawnee I tow with.

Re: B-Model conversion

So I pulled the trigger and bought the conversion kit at the show. I won't be documenting the process on these inner tubes as you jackals will rip me apart, but I will periodically report in on something noteworthy. Once you sit in a B model, you will follow me, unless you have much more self contro...

Re: AirVenture 2018

wX forecast for Saturday is looking iffy. We might work our way as far into Iowa as we can, overnight then swing in Sunday morning. If Saturday is socked in, I can imagine Sunday afternoon will be a total epic unqualified goat poke.

Re: B-Model conversion

Preliminary clearance from the home ATC to pursue a B-Model conversion approach. Now I gotta go to OSH to sit in one before executing it.

Re: AirVenture 2018

Are any of you planning on going over to the factory for the mass taxi? I'd like to but am afraid I'll get lazy and stay in camp once I'm there unless I have some peer pressure... what do you say? Of course, if there are any weather delays I might arrive on Sunday morning and taxi over there first....
