Just got UPS notification that my tail parts have been shipped.
Guess how I'm spending my Christmas vacation?

Re: Motor mount shims

I owned a 1966 Cessna 150. Zero corrosion in 2011.

Re: Waiex Tail Service Bulletin.. WTF!

Hard to tell. They were pretty quick returning a final report on a Cirrus that a student pilot decided to go offroading with at my airport last month.

Re: Waiex Tail Service Bulletin.. WTF!

Another thing to keep in mind is that Sonex did not issue a warning for any mandatory inspection of the mounting brackets for signs of fatigue. Had this been a fatigue issue, that would have been their first line of defense and responsibility to the fleet.

Re: Waiex Tail Service Bulletin.. WTF!

Given the altitude, flight phase and distance from the airport that this even occurred, I doubt the pilot was subjecting the aircraft to full deflection of the control surfaces in an asycronous way. Something else entered into the equation.

Learning

I love to learn new things. Master new skills. Challenge myself. Building an airplane certainly is more than just being a craftsman, a mechanic, a fabricator. Its being a student. Especially when tackling the electrical and avionics. Today I learned all the Sub-D pins I bought from B&G worked fi...

Re: Waiex Build Status and Completion Photos

I just used snips. I hate the fly cutter.
Also, I had interference with the trim attach tab on the yoke. Would rub the bottom of the pan. I shimmed the seat at the edge of the spar box to get enough clearance.
