Re: Viking Engine

Wouldn't an engine swap out like this put the aircraft back into phase 1 flight test for 5 hours? How can he take a passenger with him?

Re: Viking Engine

This installation is the new one with the VW adapter plate on the VW Sonex mount. When I did my measurements, it was based on the Jabiru mount and no adapter plate and interfered with the fuel tray. From the picture, it looks like the engine is pushed forward quite a bit, hence why it now clears the...

Re: I almost gave up

Hey Kipp, that offer good for Colorado too?
I've stepped away from building for two months. The weathers finally good and I'm spending too much time working on the cars and hiking with the dogs.
I need someone to come kick some enthusiasm back into plane building.

Re: Viking Engine

Just got a notice today to send a 50% deposit on my Viking Engine for an August delivery. I guess Jan didn't notice the two other letters I've sent him to cancel my order and refund my deposit. I am interested in how the Onex Viking will shake out. I guess I'll just say I'm waiting for that, then ma...

Re: Viking Engine

Did you notice the large spinner plate? Doesnt look like a smooth transition to the cowl. Wonder how it will look with the spinner and windscreen.
Other than that, it could be a very exciting aircraft. Any sonex guys get their engines yet?

Re: Viking Engine

There have been quite a few calls from the RV12 community to post real installed weights.
Always, he's been elusive and the builders have also been quiet.
Why? If he's got a good solution, why not trumpet real numbers.
I patiently await the first Sonex installations.

Re: Waiex #0056 - N569KM First Flight 4/2/2012

Sounds good! I plan to leave Atlanta mid-week before OSH heading to the northeast, touching down in every state. Then, point west to make OSH in time for the open house. I'll be going through Ohio... 8-) In 39.7 more hours, you'll be ready for OSH...! My goal is to park next to you this year!...

Re: Viking Engine

I think before anyone considers placing an order for a Viking, one do more research than I did on how he treats his customers. There is absolutely zero support for his Subaru customers. If they invested in his motor, they are now on their own. How will you feel if in two or three years you need serv...
