Re: EZ HEAT ?

This is the heater I have on my Jabiru, any 4x5 pad will work. Mine works great, brings oil up to around 90 degrees on a cold winter day in about 2 hours.
Its been installed for about 4 years and still stuck good.

Re: Project Sonex

If you removed the rudder, elevator and tips, it should fit.

Re: Builder from TX

Would make a great commuter airplane to head down to my Glider Club! That was one of my thoughts when I selected the Waiex to build. I've commuted to my glider club in my Waiex, its on the other side of the airpark. I typically take off, do a couple of low passes, then taxi over to the club, never ...

Update....
Off with the old, on with the new.
I've had to pull back the vinyl to make clean rivet/bolt attachments. I'll probably pull the entire wrap off, strip the paint (which I should have done anyways), and re-wrap. Going to attack the wings next.

Re: Sticking Velcro on sheetmetal

The heavy duty velcro from McMaster Carr is very tenacious. I used the fuzzy side on my side rails/longerons to seal the canopy, trying to remove it to take the plane apart was surprisingly difficult.

Re: accident N393SX

The Kathryns report shows two accidents. One in 2016, caused by engine failure (the result instigating the B-model conversion), and the one in 2018 after the B-model conversion and engine swap, due to drifting into trees on final.

Re: spring coupled tail wheel

Flyboy accessories has sonex tailwheel kits that will allow a full castering assembly. I have one and it works great with differential braking.

Re: 2019 Midwest Sonex Fly-In

Since my conversion will probably not be done for this, I will be working to see if we can get a NanChang or The Phoenix Zenith down there for it. Gary/Carl, are you listening?

Re: Taildragger endorsement in a Sonex

Getting a tailwheel endorsement is becoming more and more difficult. My old flying club had a Citrabria they would do it in but recently took it off the line because of increasing insurance. No matter what plane you get it in, the Sonex is the easiest and most forgiving taildragger I’ve flown.

Re: Silkscreening panel labels

I found some water transfer ink jet stock and it came out pretty good.
You basically create the labels on the computer, print on the stock, then spray clear coat over it. Cut them out, soak and transfer, then clear coat the entire panel.
